Westmill Reserves 5
County Hall Rangers 3

Barry White (2)
Steve Martin (1)

It was our penultimate (better look that word up boys) game of the season away to Westmill. This was our 4th game in 7 days and as you can imagine numbers were light (unlike our back 4). Westmill were looking to avenge for their 3-2 defeat in the corresponding (you should know that one) fixture.

Darren White arrived in his car and Lee, Fluff and Barry eventually got out after Darren had undone all the baby seats. Snails was unavailable for this game, his position as CHR number 1 goalkeeper has been established for several years (except when Stevie J is available), he has now established himself as the number 1 ‘under the thumb player’. When he told Earoles he couldn’t play as Sarah does Pilates on a Tuesday, Earoles spoke to Snails and said ‘that’s pathetic tell her who the boss is’, Snails said ‘leave it with me’. Earoles then got a text 1 hour later saying Snails had a massive bust up and Sarah was off to Pilates, so we expect Snails to be playing in a dress next season.

Earoles was injured for this game, Kofi and Darren Willson were turning up at half time, Jeremy was working and Stevie J who has since been demoted to number 2 ‘under the thumb player’ was looking after the kids whilst Carly went to Aerobics (not as bad as Pilates).

Butler was deputising in goal as he hasn’t had a girlfriend long enough to goto Pilates, he also didn’t have any gloves so let’s hope Westmill don’t shoot too hard. Ben was right back and was carrying a heavy injury and was hobbling in the warm up, Darren White was left back and was carrying a heavy belly, Tony who was carrying all sorts (make sure he wraps up girls) and Neil who was carrying a pre kick off kebab in the middle. Lee and Alan (whose horrendous blue boots were back) with Manno (who’s old nickname Flid was a great amusement in the dressing room) and Fluff on the left. Up front was Barry who needed 2 goals to become the top scorer in all 4 leagues and Steve who needed 1 more goal to move above Kofi in the scoring charts. Subs were err….nobody until half time.

County didn’t start that well and seemed to be giving the ball away cheaply in midfield; Westmill looked up for it and were battling very hard for the 2nd ball. After 20 mins County took an undeserved lead, the ball was played out wide and after the keeper made a good save Steve rammed home the rebound through a crowd of players, 1-0.

County’s lead didn’t last long; Darren White got caught in possession and went down like a sack of spuds, the ball was played long and Tony got to the ball first with the young Westmill striker hot on his heels, Tony could have played it back to Butler or kicked it out for a throw, he did neither. He was robbed and the striker lobbed Snails with a good finish, 1-1.

County were now holding on, Westmill had most of the chances, the back 4 were struggling, Ben couldn’t run and Neil and Tony couldn’t tackle. After 30 mins the defence were stretched again after county lost the ball in midfield the ball broke left, Tony and Neil went across and the ball was crossed to an unmarked player who hit a good volley past butler from 12 yards, 1-2.

Neil then got involved with a squabble with the young number 15 and gave him a little shove, everyone went whoooooo. Little did everyone know that my push didn’t seem that bad later on, isn’t that right Tony.

2-1 down at half time, Matt was angry to be losing to a C**P team but with a team playing their 4th game in 7 days and several players carrying knocks, it was going to be hard against a younger team.

Straight after the restart County were level, a very worked goal that started from a Manno thrown in, the ball was crossed for Barry to head home, 2-2.

We were not level for long, I think about 3 mins. The young player was played in and unmarked inside the box and hit an very hard but awful shot right at Butler who seemed to catch it in his nuts, he then dropped it and it rolled under him into the net for a 2010 Butler bonus, 2-3.

County then started to get physical as the young wanky number 15 was giving it out but then moaning when Tony was kicking him, the crowd started to get involve which Darren White seemed to love it and was giving it to the crowd, what a showman.

County then went 4-2 down, the young striker shrugged off Tony and lobbed Neil who was in no man’s land for the number 9 to run through on goal, he seemed to stop by mistake then made a lovely chip over Butler, 2-4.

County then conceded goal number 5, from a corner the tall Viking player out jumped Alan (for only 1st time all game) and the ball looped to Butler who then pushed it onto the crossbar and it rebounded to the striker to nod home from 2 yards, Butler bonus number 2, 2-5.

Ben then got involved with his little twig player which resulted in a little tear up, the crowd seemed to be enjoying it, Tony seemed to be enjoying it and Darren was definitely enjoying it.

Barry then had a chance for his 2nd of the game, after a long free kick from Neil Barry was 1 on 1 with the keeper but took too long and he was eventually tackled.

He then got his 2nd goal to take him top of the scoring charts, another long kick from Neil (Earoles said you wait around all season and then like buses 2 come along at once), Barry was away he fainted to shoot, done the defender and lashed it past the keeper for a good goal, 3-5.

No time to get back into it but still enough time for another row with the supporters final score 5-3 to Westmill.

That loss move leaves us in 5th and the chance for 3rd has now gone, if we win our final game at home to Bengeo reserves on Saturday then we will move to 4th. But with a few people already confirming they couldn’t play and with a few of us carrying injuries it may be a struggle to get 11 out, let alone win the game.

Congratulations to MOM Alan for a great game where he won almost every header against a very tall player something me and Tony couldn’t do all game.
